Preparing time: 45 minutes
200 g white firm tofu, cut into 6 pieces then fried
4 boiled eggs
100 g beef, thinly cut
2 tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons Indonesian thick soy sauce (kecap manis)
200 ml water
Spice Paste :
4 garlic cloves
2 big red chillies, remove the seed (If you don’t like it spicy, it can be substituted with red paprika)
2 cm fresh ginger
1 teaspoon of shrimp paste (balacan/terasi)
1. Grind or blend the spice into paste.
2. Heat the oil, then sauté the spice paste and chopped tomatoes until fragrant. Add the beef and stir for few minutes, then pour the water and add thick soy sauce. Covered the pan and cook until the meat is tender.
3. When the meat is tender, add fried tofu and boiled eggs. If the water is absorbed, add more so it won’t burn. Reduce the heat and continue cooking for 10 minutes or until the sauce is thicken.
